If you’re reading our blog, we post accompanying videos every Thursday on all our social media platforms, including YouTube. Gigi’s Bridal promises to always keep it real and honest. Even if your page is full of fitted wedding gowns, stay with us! I’m sure you’ve heard it before and I can’t tell you how many times, brides have come in with one vision and leave with a slightly modified version, so just so you know your options keep reading, it might come in handy as you shop for your wedding dress.

The difference between an A-line silhouette and a ballgown silhouette all comes down to how the gown flares our from the waist line. Both have a fitted bodice but an A-line silhouette will flare out more naturally and you’ll have that A-shape. As for the ballgown silhouette, you will notice more of a "poof" ar the waist time and the skirt will not flow as seamlessly as an A-line.

I know both will be more full than what you're used to but these are wedding gowns and different than anything you've tried on before. When you look at an A-line gown notice how it flows naturally and subtly; you won’t be able to notice the difference when it poops out. On the other hand, a ballgown flares out a lot more notably, and it will continue to have fullness in the skirt throughout the bottom. A-lines very comfortable and easy to maneuver throughout your wedding day. For my brides that come in and want the princess feel without the princess look we always begin with an A-line gown. If you are looking for that wow-factor, show stopper, a ballgown is the way to go- it has personality as full as the skirt.

The wedding dress for you is the one that makes you feel like the most confident and beautiful version of yourself. At Gigi's Bridal, we don’t believe your wedding venue or your wedding season dictates your wedding dress. Sure some logistical accommodations might need to be made but at the end of the day the dress you love is the dres you wear. That being said if you are stuck between an A-line or ball gown silhouette, our best advice is to try on both. Be honest with your stylist and let them know what you are considering. Your expert stylist will pick up gowns that suit your vision and others that will push you outside of your comfort zone.

If you have made it this far but you’ve been considering a fitted wedding dress, our advice to you is the same. Try on a gown outside your vision. Begin with A-line gown and if that shillouette surprises you (in a good way) try going a step further and try on a ball gown.

At Gigi's Bridal, we are passionate about translating your personal syle in to your wedding day look. If you are the bride who is team overdressed and believes that there is no such thing as "too much" then a ballgown might be right for you. If you're a bride who values comfort and style equally then an A-line might be for you.

No matter which shillouette you go for you are going to look radiant on your wedding day. We just know it!
